About the song, Fahey stated "Hello is the furthest I've come as a writer, because it's intense and emotional and it sounds like it could have been done by a man". (Vox magazine, May 1992).
The accompanying black and white video was directed by Sophie Muller and featured on the Hormonally Yours video collection and also on the DVD release of 2004's "Best Of Shakespears Sister" compilation.

Hello (Turn Your Radio On) was covered by German punk rock band The Bates as the lead single off the album The Bates. The song was released in 1994.
Hello (Turn Your Radio On) was covered by German girlgroup Queensberry as the lead single off the second album On My Own. The song was released as the band's third official single on the 23 October 2009.
The single was performed for the first time in the second line-up on 4 September 2010 at the IFA Sommergarten in Berlin and in Poland on the same day.
The music video shows the girls in a glam-rock kind of style. The entire video is shot with feint colors, but not black and white. Throuought the video, sheets of paper, money and old photographs, are shown flying around. During the verses of the song, each girl is shown walking through a city with high buildings. During the chorus, Queensberry are shown standing in a dark room, barely moving. A man, sitting on stone steps, unpacking a Chinese fortune cookie; an elderly man, probably saying goodbye to his wife on a photograph, kissing it and throwing it into the water; a young boy fighting over a handcart with a young girl; a banker, probably having been fired; and a couple fighting and probably breaking up, also appear.
